INFINITY – THE PEOPLE LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Redefining and Democratizing High-Quality Leadership Education and Distribution.

Now more than ever, the world needs well-prepared, thoughtful leadership at every level of society. Leaders need to be better prepared in an increasingly complex world. Pedagogical research has shown that simulations are the most effective method of ensuring that learning is remembered and transferred to practice. Up until now, behavioral leadership simulations have only been available to clients like ours: elite schools or for the leaders of global for-profit organizations. While those are still our clients, we are also working on opening access.

 

Our most ambitious project to date, Infinity – The People Leadership Experience (PLE), has just been recognized as a finalist in Fast Company’s 2018 Global Innovations Awards in the Developing Technology Category. We are thrilled to be among such a diverse and creative global group, each of us trying to make a difference.

 

Our project’s mission is to redefine and democratize high-quality leadership education and distribution for a new age. We are focused on continuing to make proven, powerful leadership simulations like Infinity available to our clients for a fee; but we are also going to be giving Infinity-XNP at no charge to mission-driven, not-for-profit organizations on neighborhood, municipal, national and global levels. This XNP version will have augmented workbooks aimed specifically at the not-for-profit sector.

Infinity is a leadership practice field designed to teach the following learning outcomes without the real-world penalties of failure:

  1. Building and leading a powerful, purpose-driven team
  2. Creating an adaptive and innovative team culture
  3. Increasing the leader’s and team’s contextual intelligence
  4. Leading in an increasingly digital VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) world.

Over the past two and a half years, over sixteen people have been engaged in researching, designing, developing, testing and adapting this incredible program. Our goals:

  • Design the first story-driven, episodic behavioral leadership simulation.
  • Create a single-player, high-quality digital leadership learning experience that our clients can easily and elegantly scale to thousands of leaders distributed around the world in minutes, as well as for not-for-profits, across multiple platforms including Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android
  • Ensure that participants receive individually customized Digital Mentor (DM)™ feedback based on their own decisions and behaviors.
  • Use a portion of each of our for-profit fees (5%) to: (a) accelerate Infinity’s distribution to additional not-for-profit organizations; (b) launch a global hub, Leader-To-Leader X-Change to connect leaders to other leaders who are actively involved in making change happen, and (c) expand the program to other languages in addition to English.

 

Each episode is approximately 2-2.5 hours long depending on playing speed. This time includes gameplay and Digital Mentor™ feedback. Leaders can choose to experience one, two, or all three of the episodes. Each episode progressively provides more challenge and greater leadership mastery.

We are launching all three episodes of the trilogy this year. Our goal in Year 1 is for thousands of aspiring not-for-profit leaders to complete this immersive behavioral simulation program at no cost. Our five-year goal is to keep significantly increasing the number of free users and connect them to one another through the Leader-To-Leader X-Change.

 

Players in the PLE simulation lead and interact with a diverse team of five unique team managers, helping them turn around a factory that has fallen on hard times. By the end of Episode 3, the learner will have evolved the managers into a very effective and powerful team inside an increasingly complex, volatile and technologically-enabled world. Each of the team members has a distinct personality and set of talents and skills. Each has personal and professional aspirations and challenges, as well as individual strengths and weaknesses. The players get to know their team members through rich conversations over time. Each episode is an engaging, challenging, fun and sometimes stressful game experience.

 

The game tracks players’ choices and actions, and provides individual, customized, behavioral feedback through our proprietary Digital Mentor™ technology. The DM provides a customized report that analyzes each player’s decisions with the four learning outcomes and over 60 managerial behaviors. It helps the learner see how those actions affect the team’s alignment to purpose, engagement and ultimately, performance. The feedback happens on three levels at the end of each episode. Episode One, The Assignment, has completed its successful Beta-testing with the support of leaders inside our global client, GE. We are currently doing further testing at Mercedes.
