I attended the LWE session at the end of June of this year. While this note really isn't work-related, I wanted to share something with the two of you as a follow-up to this session.

I received my three stars and gave one away the first day to someone who provided outstanding feedback that helped to significantly improve a number of concepts folks had for key transformational opportunities. During the second day, I started to appreciate the impact that "stars" could have on people as I saw the excitement and enthusiasm of both the folks giving stars, as well as the folks getting the stars. The more I thought about it, the more I thought about my family, and how they are stars in my life. I ended up over the course of the week being given two additional stars, leaving me with four in total, which I took home.

The day after I got home, I called a family meeting (with my wife and three children, aged 8, 10 and 12). During that meeting, I presented each with their own "star" and explained to them why I was giving it to them, that each of them were stars to me.

My children started a new school year last week and my youngest daughter, now 9, had to take in a few key belongings to school today that mean the most to her to share with her class. She had a number of items, and my wife showed me one of her most prized possessions - that simple star. Out of all of the special things that she owns, this is one of the key ones for her. Needless to say, it choked me up that this could have such an influence on my little girl. Thanks to both of you for emphasizing the importance of these and the blessings that the giver receives, in addition to the recipient.

Further, I wanted to thank both of you for your efforts during the LWE training session, and to let you know that I have been working hard since then (in addition to working on my KTO) to help each of my folks to understand their importance and to help them to grow and learn during their tenure with me - in other words, to be a better manager. Each of them has a strengths finder book, they have each completed their assessment, and we have discussed as a group our strengths, how we complement each other and how we can work better together as a team.

Thanks again for your efforts!
