The ‘Journey Home’ is a journey towards a common
goal. It is a great way to motivate your team, inspire your
colleagues and step outside your corporate comfort zone.
Over the past few months exper!ence it inc. has been delighted
and honored to deliver The Journey Home with some very prestigious
international companies. The trend started with Unum Provident,
an industry leader in disability income protection and one
of the top providers of supplement benefits in North America.
After lots of strategic planning at our e! office in Toronto,
and some very informative conference calls with Unum Provident
and the planning team, we got the show on the road. We took
it all the way down to the sunshine state, to the Disney Yacht
Club & Resort in Orlando, Florida.
“What time is it? The Time is now!” was the key
focus of the event for Unum Provident. With an attendance
of 180 people and a guest appearance by the beloved Buzz Lightyear,
it was an eventful day. Also graciously co-hosting/ facilitating
was Mark Jones, an employee of Disney for the last 25 years.
He collaborated with Don Jones, Pat Sherlock and Ron Christian
in facilitating the event.
e! then made the trek back north to Orillia, Ontario to participate
in the Journey Home with The Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation
(Ontario Stroke Strategy). The Heart and Stroke Foundation
is a national voluntary, non-profit organization whose mission
is to improve the health of Canadians by preventing and reducing
disability and death from heart disease and stroke through
research, health promotion and advocacy. The Heart and Stroke
Foundation of Canada is a Federation of ten independent Provincial
Foundations and one National Office, led and supported by
a force of more than 130,000 volunteers.
exper!ence it inc. helped launch the first day of The Heart
and Stroke Foundation’s Strategic Planning Session,
with 60 participants experiencing The Journey Home at the
Geneva Park YMCA. This is a very rustic and outdoorsy facility
overlooking beautiful Lake Couchiching. Following the simulation,
one participant said: “I enjoyed the Journey Home for
the insight it gave the group into team building and collaboration.”
Another comment made was: “The Journey Home was a great
exercise to bring us all together.”
Continuing on with our ’Journey’ north, the e!
team travelled to Cambrian College in Sudbury, one of 24 colleges
comprising the Ontario College system. Established in 1967,
the college provides career-oriented education, combining
theory and hands-on experience.
“We succeed when we all work together,” were
the words that Cambrian chose to define their event. Don Jones
and Ron Christian were on hand as lead facilitators, marching
to the beat of Mike Mulvihill and Claudio Basso’s live
rendition of “Rocketman,” which kicked off the
initial briefing into The Journey Home. With lots of talented
help (Cambrian Senior Managers), Ron and Don’s Vision
Command centre was a solid success. Thank you to Unum Provident,
Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation and Cambrian College for
choosing to embark on your mission with us. It was a pleasure
to travel along with you and share in your ‘Journey
Home’ experience.
