A Virtual Simulation for Developing Leaders
Imagine that you’ve just received
40 e-mails, some of which are marked urgent and some of which
actually are urgent. Furthermore, imagine you have half an
hour to sort the e-mails and provide appropriate responses.
That is the task facing managers and aspiring leaders when
they participate in the virtual simulation.
The Virtual Co. experience takes place
in two parts. First, the online component takes place at the
participant’s desk at a pre-determined time, which consists
of the 45-minute evaluation session of responding to emails.
The email responses of the managers will then be evaluated
to provide directional arrows for their future development.
The second component of the program is
the on-site group debrief. The managers will be given their
evaluation at the beginning of the session to provide a benchmark.
Through this two-hour session, they will have an opportunity
to discover where they have demonstrated talents. Are they
managers who focus on individuals or are they leaders who
focus on universals? This simulation sets the stage for a
rich conversation about what it means to be a leader versus
a manager.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants in this online virtual program will learn how
to:
- Define themselves as a leader vs. managers
- Develop clear objectives and goals
around their roles
- Identify the areas for personal growth
as a leader
- Communicate more effectively and make
better decisions under time pressure
