Transition to Impact! is far superior to more traditional approaches to planning, as it ensures maximum participation and creativity by all members of the team, and creates a climate of commitment every step of the way. The outcomes are clarity, alignment and enthusiasm.

Transition to Impact!
The Strategic Results Workout Program

Leadership team members step through the Transition to Impact! door and are transported into an intense, engaging and challenging scenario requiring them to develop ‘top secret’ strategic, corporate intelligence, which they must then ‘creatively’ impart back to their colleagues. As they work, they are visited from time to time by ‘customers’, ‘employees’ and ‘senior level executives’ who demand to have their perspectives considered in the teams’ reports. A sense of pressure, urgency, creativity and fun fuels the teams to engage in innovative, breakthrough thinking.

Participants are thus swept into the magic of ‘Mission Possible!’, a key program element of Transition to Impact! Of course, the work they engage in is actually based on their actual organization, and the creative reports they present become rich planning elements for their very real strategic planning work.

Transition to Impact! is not simply a strategic planning workshop… it is actually an intervention that not only produces powerful plans, but also creates the foundation for an enriched organizational culture, builds leadership knowledge, skills and commitment, and strengthens team member relationships.

The Program

Transition to Impact! is a multi-phase process:

Needs Assessment Phase: facilitated, comprehensive senior management review of internal and external opportunities and challenges; interviews with key organizational stakeholders; customization of the Transition to Impact! Program to fit directly with the client group’s needs.

Preparation Phase: early communication with participants sets the stage for their involvement in the program, and outlines tasks to be completed prior to Transition to Impact! (these tasks ensure that information and data crucial to the planning process will be available; as well, these tasks set the stage for team member commitment to the planning process).

Transition to Impact! Off-site:
The event begins during the evening before ‘Day One’ with a dinner and ‘town hall’ meeting, with the group’s leader providing the context and objectives for the group members. This ensures that everyone understands the strategic direction and its rationale, the current and anticipated future market conditions, and sets the stage for a very productive and enjoyable two-day event.

The two days of Transition to Impact! include a rich, fast-paced variety of program elements which revolve around the themes of Alignment & Clarity, Change Readiness, Competency Development, and Team Effectiveness

Planning:

  • The Mission Possible! Simulation: the team spends time in the simulation enabling them to ‘step outside’ of their organizational paradigm, in order to engage in creative and innovative, breakthrough thinking.
  • Learning Windows: are brief (20 – 30 minute) facilitated mini-workshops, interspersed throughout the two days, which provide participants with tools, models and methods to think differently, and apply new concepts to their planning work.
  • Team Presentations, Dialogue & Decisioning: throughout the two days, teams collect and consolidate their findings, and generate creative ways of sharing their outputs with colleagues in other teams. This process keeps involvement and enthusiasm running high, and adds to the quality of the team’s final outputs.
  • Action Planning: with facilitated support, the final afternoon of Transition to Impact! concludes with a series of team decisions regarding action plans and next steps for putting their plans into action. Individual team members are encouraged to step up and take on responsibilities and accountability for key follow-through actions.

Learning Outcomes
Transition to Impact! is a dynamic, two day program which provides a ‘launching pad’ for intact leadership teams to develop aligned strategic plans, and to lay the cultural tracks for engaging employee commitment. Transition to Impact! creates context, shared understanding and commitment across the team, provides guidance and direction to enable individual team members to make a significant contribution, and generates aligned action plans for achieving the strategic plan.

Specific outcomes include:

  • Development of strategic long-term and short-term goals (based on organizational and industry environmental assessment, and fundamental organizational values);
  • Development of a Transition to Impact Plan (including measurable benchmarks & a comprehensive communication plan);
  • Clarity and alignment across the leadership team;
  • Commitment to action.
